What's Next: Hopes for the Future

2026

Let's get Rapunzel's reopened to the public and restart events!

What will that take?

  1. We need working bathrooms, which are in the back part of the building, which is sinking…

  2. …so we've been working on getting a foundation contractor to jack up the building and repair/replace the foundation beams (the sills).

  3. Once the foundation is secured, we'll replace the bathrooms ripped out during that process. Yay! New bathrooms!

  4. We'll install better ADA access in back, including a smooth walkway, lighting, and smooth interior flooring.

  5. We're getting the Rapunzel's floors insulated underneath so that people are more comfortable visiting in the winter.

  6. There's a major roof leak that has affected the back portion of the venue. We're working to get this corrected so we can fix the water damage inside.

  7. We've been giving the place a good autumn cleaning, improving the lighting, and making the kitchen better for people working there.

  8. We've gotten a phone line and are getting actual phones to respond to calls! Rapunzel’s will have the same free wireless Firefly service.

  9. The three front porches are being rebuilt and newly connected, with more furniture and a more inviting place to catch the night air.

There's even more to come

  1. We want to create a green room for musicians and performers so there is expanded and more comfortable space backstage.

  2. Rapunzel's will expand to include a large upstairs room. "Rapunzel's Upstairs" will seat 30-40 people for plays, movie nights, receptions, and meetings.

  3. At least one second floor bathroom will be added.

  4. The three-quarter acre lot out back is a good spot for a small woodland trail with benches, flowers, and whatever we can all dream up and make happen.

  5. We'll be adding café hours and increasing our book, music, and art offerings.

  6. We'd like to develop after-school programs.

  7. We want to restart music jams and the annual songwriting contest.

  8. The fireplace alcove in Rapunzel's is a good spot to cut out French doors leading to another outside deck.
